BRANDI L. PRITCHETT, M.A.

Brandi L. Pritchett grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with her grandparents and one of her younger sisters before she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Clark Atlanta University and earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology. With her degree in hand she arrived back in Michigan where she worked at a management company for long-term care facilities before pursuing and completing a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University. Pritchett is currently a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University where she also works in graduate student government. As the founding member of the Future 4 Teens team, Pritchett serves as the Executive Director and Primary Facilitator. Pritchett has found that working with young men and women is her primary passion and future goal.

This future scholar and young entrepreneur has ample experience with the youth, young adult, and older adult populations. Her experiences include the development and facilitation of support groups, workshops, and extended programming for Phoenix High School, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo, FIRE Historical and Cultural Arts Collaborative, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, and Aurora Girls High School located in South Africa. She has worked as a counselor at a middle school in Battle Creek through the GEAR UP program and served as an adjunct instructor for Lake Michigan College. Ms. Pritchett also serves the community in other ways as a member of the Minority Business Alliance and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is involved in a number of organizations including her role as the Chairperson for the Graduate Student Advisory Committee and a member and past president of the Graduate Students of Color.  On the national level, Pritchett is a member of the Association of Black Psychologist, American Psychological Association, and the newly established Michigan Association of Graduate and Professional Students.

While Pritchett has had an array of work experiences her dedication to empowering and enriching the lives of youth is her primary goal and obligation. Pritchett is especially interested in adolescent issues of grief and loss as she is familiar with the struggles of loosing a parent at a young age. Pritchett is also interested in issues of identity development including race and culture. As she often hears her F4T partner and friend Joe Johnson say, “It is all about the youth!
