Cheyla is a new resident of Michigan after spending all of her life in the south. She is from Arlington, TX by way of New Orleans, LA. Cheyla received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Dillard University in May 2007. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and will continue on to obtain her PhD at Western Michigan University (WMU) beginning in the Fall of 2009. Cheyla is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Beta Kappa Chi National Honor Society, National Institute of Science Honor Society, International Mentorship Association Member, American Psychological Association Member, Association of Black Psychologists Member and National Black Graduate Student Association Member.
Cheyla is a graduate assistant in the Graduate College where she assists with the coordination of multiple programs, including an annual visitation experience for potential graduate students. She currently serves as President of Graduate Students of Color organization (GSOC) at WMU. Cheyla has become very active in the Kalamazoo community serving as a Girl Scout troop leader and a big sister through Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan.
Miss Milo has a plethora of experiences that have made her contribution to the Future4Teens organization very unique. Cheyla has served as a counselor in an elementary school. She has also volunteered in multiple mental health venues inclusive of the Greater New Orleans Arc, which is a center for developmentally disabled adults. |
